Day 3 - Moab

Now that we know where everything is in the car, we've got this tenting thing down and I love it!  We got up at 6 AM and within a half hour we had the camp down and headed to Boulder. We went to check on the University of Colorado and we just happened to see the Math building, so we took some photos for Michael.  I observed in these Colorado communities they don't keep yards and other outdoor areas so manicured as we do in our area.

Driving down I-70 was pretty with the colorful canyons and snow-capped mountains.  We saw one lone pine tree in the ditch fully decorated for Christmas. There are many signs in Colorado that say, "Don't text and drive.  Get your head out if your apps!" Pretty funny!

We've gone 730 miles on less than 2 tanks of gas. The car is much better than the Birdmobile on fuel!

After a beautiful nine hour scenic drive through Utah we arrived in Moab.  It was 92 degrees and windy. We checked into our deluxe cottage, which is really small, but surely meets our needs.  We will stay here for 2 nights. We did something I hadn't done in over 10 years! We went swimming at the campground pool. I forgot how refreshing that could be! There will be no photos if that moment however!

After a bite to eat drove to Dead Horse Pt. for sunset photos.  It was beautiful, but too hazy for good pictures.  It is a fun place to hike around.  It was very windy there and hazy unfortunately.  I saw four Mountain Bluebirds and a cool little lizard that I got photos of and sent to an expert.

The Moab, Utah area is a beautiful place!  With the colorful and unusual rock formation. Some areas look like the town of Bedrock.  Where are the Flintstones?

The Eisenhower Tunnel was pretty interesting.
This small cabin was called the "deluxe cottage", but it was pretty small.
It was cute inside and suited our needs just fine.
Dead Horse State Park is a beautiful place even if it is hazy much of the time.
I love the colors in this canyon.
This is the first time we'd seen lizards on the trip.  This is an Ornate Tree Lizard.
